Dual Study Programmes

Course of Study: Electrical Engineering

We offer a dual study programme in electrical engineering along with the Privaten Fachhochschule für Wirtschaft und Technik Vechta/Diepholz/Oldenburg (PHWT). The PHWT is an officially recognised, privately funded university with accredited dual study courses.

Place of Study

Oldenburg, at the Federal Technology Centre for Electrical Engineering and Information Technology.

Course of Study

The electrical engineering course is coordinated with competent companies in industry and craft. The subjects of study take innovative production and development processes into account. The students gain a wide knowledge base during their first semester. The following core and optional subjects then build on this knowledge. We, as a qualified company with technical expertise and experience in training, support the students in the implementation of this theoretical knowledge. With this system, we allow the students to see and cope with the reality of being an engineer. For most courses in the FHWT, there is as much practical work as there is theory. This guarantees the practical relevance during study and ensures a smooth and stress-free transfer into the professional career as an engineer. The core basis includes the basics of electrical engineering and other non technical subjects, to ensure the student has the “key qualifications”. The engineering base is made up of the following:

  • Maths
  • Electrical technology/electronics
  • nformation technology and programming
  • Technical foundations

The non technical subjects include:

  • English
  • Basics of business management
  • Communication and Presentation technology

Degrees

The title of Bachelor of Engineering is given after seven semesters and the completion of a bachelor thesis. Graduating with a bachelor allows the student to study further for a Master.

Course of Study: Mechanical Engineering

We offer a dual study programme in mechanical engineering along with the Privaten Fachhochschule für Wirtschaft und Technik Vechta/Diepholz/Oldenburg (PHWT). The PHWT is an officially recognised, privately funded university with accredited dual study courses.

Place of Study

Diepholz

Course of Study

The mechanical engineering course is organised into

  • Fundamental knowledge
  • Core knowledge
  • Further knowledge

Engineering, maths and natural science is taught in the fundamental knowledge phase. The core knowledge phase focuses on providing good knowledge and skills in design work and on mastery of ultra modern calculation and simulation processes. On top of this is independent work in computer labs that are equipped with up-to-date and relevant software. In the further knowledge phase, it is possible to widen the theoretical basic knowledge through a number of diverse optional subjects, in addition to the compulsory subjects. The multidisciplinary curriculum is a further important feature of all phases of the degree. The students therefore learn the highly distinctive interdisciplinary approach to many areas of mechanical engineering. The degree follows 7 semesters of study, finished with three months working on a bachelor thesis.

Relevance

Engineers plan and design technical systems and machines, products and processes and develop these into an optimal solution. To do this they fall back on not only a wide knowledge of natural sciences and engineering, but they also need to use a considerable degree of intuition, imagination and creativity. In doing this, they must not, however, disregard the economic framework. Mechanical engineers usually work in the following areas:

  • Research and development
  • Design
  • Planning process
  • Manufacturing
  • Quality control

Degrees

The title Bachelor of Engineering (B.Eng.) is given for the successful completion of this degree.
